Lower School Spiritual Life
Veritas Christian Academy is a discipleship model school. As faculty and staff, we endeavor to come alongside Christian parents as they seek to rear their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. It is our prayer that each of our students will come to know Christ as Savior and Lord, but we are well aware that spiritual transformation takes place on God's timetable, not ours. It is our privilege to participate in God's plan for each of our students and to play an active part in his/her spiritual formation.
We use a variety of interactions and activities to plant the seeds of God's love and His Truth in the hearts and minds of our students. Students in the Lower School begin the day with devotions and prayer. They share prayer requests and learn to pray with and for one another. Through a solid Bible curriculum, they are guided daily through the Scriptures, utilizing engaging presentations, hands-on activities, and Scripture memory to implant the truths of the Word of God and to shape godly character.
We have two Lower School Chapels each week, one for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade and one for students in 3rd through 5th grades. In chapel, appropriate lessons are presented through skits and visual tools, and students worship as they sing songs of praise and the great hymns of the church.
At Veritas, our mission is to equip minds and engage hearts for God's Kingdom purposes. As we encourage our students to love God and others, we provide opportunities for them to exercise their faith through service projects. These projects are carefully chosen, meeting the practical needs of others while serving as living vessels of our Father's love. For example, our Lower School students have visited nursing homes, collected food for the St. Barnabas Catholic Church Food Pantry and Manna Food Bank, provided handcrafted tote bags for children of women undergoing cancer treatment, collected pennies for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and supported the Asheville Crisis Pregnancy Center by collecting much-needed supplies for expectant mothers. It is our goal for our students to possess a living faith.
